This study presents an efficient approach for determining the optimal locations ofwind turbines (WTs) in distribution systems, which considers the existinguncertainties in the power generation of WTs and the load demand of consumers. The daily load profiles of the seasonal and geographical-dependent behaviors ofWTs are also considered. The proposed probabilistic approach is based onscenario tree modeling, and each scenario is assessed in regard to power lossminimization. Then, the TOPSIS (technique for order preference by similarity toan ideal solution) method is adopted to regulate the optimal placement of WTsconsidering the average value and the standard deviation of active power lossesas possible attributes. This approach enables a multi-attribute analysis of thesearch space to yield a more efficient solution. Detailed simulation studies, conducted on IEEE 33-bus test system, are utilized to examine the effectivenessof the proposed method. The results of this study are discussed in depth.
