Abstract

Constant electrical power supply is a bedrock as well as the language of development in any country in the world. A country develops fast because there is always a steady power supply to homes, industries, and other areas, while an undeveloped country has no power supply as a cankerworm in the midst of other corrupt practices. A lot of people in remote rural zones in sub-Saharan Africa countries like Nigeria are still in darkness for not having access to utility power supply. Electrically, life in those locations is very miserable. There is always a high rate of pollution in those localities. The fact remains that many of them are still using traditional means of lighting their homes, like using kerosene stoves, petrol generators, molded fibers from palm nuts, candles, etc. To address the problem of power supply to the remotest areas in Nigeria to a greater height, a development of enhanced solar-powered generator supply system is proposed in this research. The bases of our research are due to (i) Nigeria has vast sunlight radiation and (ii) few electric cables to run the proposed system to those location targets compared with the grid utility power distribution. The enhancement of the solar-powered generator supply system is emanating from the utilization of an advanced DC modulation scheme and incorporation of minimized-outward H-bridge power switches. The idea here is to increase the quality of power supply by evaluating the percentage level of total harmonic distortion and efficiency from the developed system. The simulated results realized are 0.1123% and pure sinewave voltage level of 215.3 V, total harmonics distortions, of 0.08308% and current level of 22.43 A, 0.857% duty cycle, DC-DC boosted voltage of 505.50 V, efficiency of 96.58%, stabilized power output of 4829.179 W, and power input of 5000 W. The practical results realized are clean sine voltage waveform of 318V, solar panels’ voltage of 72 V, operating frequency of 49.99Hz, rectified sine wave of modulating frequency of 101.6 Hz, DC-DC boosted voltage of 504.0V, improved switching frequencies of 101.6 Hz and 5.06 kHz.
