Abstract

This study addresses critical challenges in vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication systems by leveraging blockchain technology combined with the Proof of Authority (PoA) consensus algorithm. The research focuses on four major issues: centralized system dependencies, communication inefficiencies in highly mobile environments, data integrity, and privacy concerns. To tackle dependency issues prevalent in centralized systems, a decentralized blockchain architecture is proposed. This architecture mitigates security risks and management complexities associated with centralized models, thereby enhancing overall system robustness. In the context of V2V communication, where rapid and efficient data exchange is essential, a consortium blockchain is advocated. This choice is aimed at optimizing communication efficiency and minimizing data loss, particularly during simultaneous data requests in highly dynamic environments. The immutable nature of blockchain technology is employed to address data integrity concerns. By ensuring that all transactions are recorded in a tamper-proof ledger, blockchain eliminates the need for centralized update processes, thereby preserving data accuracy. Privacy issues are addressed through the implementation of public-private key pairs within the consortium blockchain framework, which safeguards user data against unauthorized access. Additionally, the PoA consensus algorithm is utilized to enhance system performance and prevent data loss. The algorithm’s efficiency is demonstrated through a queue mechanism that ensures reliable transaction processing. Performance evaluations, including simulations and mathematical analyses, highlight significant improvements in efficiency compared to existing models. This study provides a novel solution that balances speed and security in decentralized V2V communication networks. It advances the state-of-the-art in network management by integrating blockchain technology with PoA, contributing valuable insights and practical solutions to the field. Simulation results indicate that the proposed model reduces the average transaction waiting time to approximately 14.98 ms, demonstrating improved efficiency compared to existing V2V communication architectures.
